Vashti Hardy biography

Vashti Hardy is a British children’s author known for her adventure and fantasy novels. She studied at the University of Chichester, where she completed a postgraduate certificate in education. Hardy previously worked as a primary school teacher before becoming a full-time writer.

Her debut novel, Brightstorm, was published by Scholastic in 2018. The book was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and the Blue Peter Book Award. Brightstorm was followed by a sequel, Darkwhispers, in 2020, and a third book, Fireborn, in 2021.

Hardy’s other works include Wildspark (2019), which won the Blue Peter Book Award for Best Story in 2020. She has also written Harley Hitch and the Iron Forest (2021), published by Egmont, and its sequels Harley Hitch and the Missing Moon (2022) and Harley Hitch and the Fossil Mystery (2023).

Her books have been translated into several languages and are published internationally. In 2022, Hardy’s novel Crowfall was published by Scholastic. She is represented by the literary agency Bell Lomax Moreton.

In 2020, Wildspark received the Blue Peter Book Award for Best Story.
