Trish Cooke biography

Trish Cooke is a British author, playwright, and scriptwriter known for her work in children’s literature and television. She has written numerous picture books, plays, and scripts, and has contributed to a range of children’s television programmes. Cooke was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and is of Dominican heritage.

Her writing often explores themes of family and cultural identity. Cooke’s picture books include So Much, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury and published by Walker Books in 1994. So Much received several awards, including the Smarties Book Prize and the Kurt Maschler Award. Other picture books by Cooke include Full, Full, Full of Love, illustrated by Paul Howard, and Look Back!, illustrated by Caroline Binch.

In addition to her work as an author, Cooke has written plays for the stage and scripts for television. She has worked as a scriptwriter for the BBC children’s programme Playdays and has contributed to other television projects. Cooke has also been involved in adapting stories for the stage, including a stage version of So Much.

Trish Cooke’s contributions to children’s literature have been recognised with several awards and honours. So Much won the Smarties Book Prize in 1994.
