Theresa Breslin biography

Theresa Breslin is a Scottish author known for her work in children’s and young adult fiction. She has written numerous novels that explore a range of historical and contemporary themes. Breslin’s writing often draws on her background as a librarian, and she has been recognised for her contribution to literature for young people.

Her debut novel, Simon’s Challenge, was published in 1988. Breslin has since written a variety of books, including historical novels such as Remembrance and The Medici Seal, as well as contemporary stories like Divided City. Her work frequently addresses issues such as social justice, conflict, and identity.

Breslin’s novel Whispers in the Graveyard won the Carnegie Medal in 1994. She has also been shortlisted for several other awards, and her books are used in schools across the UK. In addition to novels, Breslin has written picture books and short stories for younger readers.

Her book An Illustrated Treasury of Scottish Folk and Fairy Tales was published by Floris Books in 2012.
