Theresa Breslin biography

Theresa Breslin is a children’s and young adult author. She has written more than thirty books for young readers, and her work includes historical fiction. Before writing full time, she worked as a librarian.

Breslin won the CILIP Carnegie Medal in 1994. Whispers in the Graveyard won the Carnegie Medal, and The Dream Master was shortlisted for the Children’s Book Award. Divided City was shortlisted for ten book awards and won two of them.

Remembrance is her young adult novel about young people in the First World War. The Corgi Childrens paperback edition of Remembrance was published on 27 March 2014 and has 320 pages.

The Medici Seal was published by Random House in 2007. The novel follows Matteo, a boy who is rescued by Leonardo da Vinci and becomes his apprentice during a story set in Renaissance Italy.

Breslin contributed the story Down the Pan to On the Money, a project in which four Scottish children’s writers wrote stories about finance, debt, wants and needs, entrepreneurship and money management. The Gaelic version of On the Money was launched at Condorrat Primary School, Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, on 11 November 2008.
