Thekla Priebst was born in Weimar in 1990 and studied visual communication at Bauhaus University Weimar and Berlin Weissensee School of Art. She works as a freelance art director and illustrator. Priebst writes and illustrates children’s non-fiction, and her work combines text, illustration and book design.
Her book The Voyage That Changed the World: The Epic Story of the First Crew to Sail Around the Globe is a children’s non-fiction title published by Wide Eyed Editions in 2025. The book recounts the Spanish voyage to the Moluccas by a western sea route under Ferdinand Magellan, and it also gives space to the Indigenous peoples encountered on the journey and to Enrique de Malacca. It is an 80-page book for children, and it was Priebst’s debut as an author-illustrator in 2025.
