Steve McCarthy is an Irish illustrator and author known for his work in children’s literature. He has contributed illustrations to a range of books, collaborating with various writers. McCarthy illustrated A Place Called Perfect by Helena Duggan, published by Usborne. He is also the illustrator of The Wilderness, which he both wrote and illustrated, published by Walker Books in 2021. His distinctive illustration style has been featured in several picture books and middle-grade novels.
McCarthy’s work includes collaborations with authors such as Sarah Webb, for whom he illustrated Blazing a Trail: Irish Women Who Changed the World, published by The O’Brien Press. He has also illustrated Granny Makes Me Grumpy by Tracey Corderoy, published by Little Tiger Press.
In 2021, Steve McCarthy’s book The Wilderness was published by Walker Books.
