Sophie Burrows biography

Sophie Burrows is a British author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature and graphic novels. She studied at the University of the West of England, where she completed a degree in Illustration, and later earned a Master’s degree in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art.

Burrows’ debut graphic novel, Crush: Stories About Love, was published by Jonathan Cape in 2021. The book explores themes of love and connection through wordless illustrations, and has been noted for its expressive visual storytelling. In addition to her graphic novel work, Burrows has illustrated picture books, including Ig and Og and the Other Frog by Sophie Hannah, published by Simon & Schuster in 2022.

Her illustrations have appeared in various publications and projects, and she has contributed to anthologies and collaborative works. Burrows’ style is characterised by its warmth, humour, and attention to emotional detail, often focusing on everyday moments and relationships.

Sophie Burrows was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the Illustrated Books category in 2022 for Ig and Og and the Other Frog.
