Sital Gorasia Chapman is a British children’s author known for her picture books. She has a background in mathematics and previously worked as a chartered accountant before turning to writing. Chapman is of Indian heritage and her work often draws on her cultural background.
Her debut picture book, There’s Such a Thing as… Too Many Mangoes!, was published by Otter-Barry Books in 2023. The story explores themes of community, sharing, and cultural tradition, and is set in an Indian context. The book features illustrations by Krishna Bala Shenoi.
Chapman’s writing has been recognised in several competitions. She was a winner of the 2021 FAB Prize, which celebrates new voices in children’s writing and illustration from underrepresented backgrounds. She has also been shortlisted for the Searchlight Writing for Children Award.
In addition to her writing, Chapman has contributed to anthologies and has been involved in school and library events promoting reading and diversity in children’s literature. Her debut picture book, There’s Such a Thing as… Too Many Mangoes!, was published in 2023.
