Shane Hegarty biography

Shane Hegarty is an Irish author known for his work in children’s literature. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked as a journalist and arts editor. Hegarty is the author of the Darkmouth series, which follows the adventures of a young boy named Finn who is training to be a Legend Hunter in a town plagued by monsters. The first book in the series, Darkmouth, was published by HarperCollins Children’s Books in 2015. The series includes several sequels, such as Darkmouth: Worlds Explode and Darkmouth: Chaos Descends.

In addition to the Darkmouth books, Hegarty has written the Boot series, which centres on a robot named Boot who embarks on a journey to discover what it means to be alive. The first book, Boot: Small Robot, Big Adventure, was published by Hodder Children’s Books in 2019.

Hegarty’s books have been published in the UK and Ireland, and he has participated in various literary festivals and school events. His work is noted for its humour, adventure, and imaginative storytelling. In 2015, Darkmouth was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
