Sabrina Weiss biography

Sabrina Weiss is a journalist and author writing for children and general audiences on science, health and the environment. Her reporting has appeared in magazines and newspapers including Wired, National Geographic, the New Statesman and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Alongside long-form features and multimedia projects, she has written a series of illustrated non-fiction books for young readers.

Weiss’s debut children’s title, Ocean: Secrets of the Deep (What on Earth Books, 2019), introduces marine habitats and conservation topics through infographics and spreads illustrated by Giulia De Amicis. She followed this with Amazing Islands: 100+ Places That Will Boggle Your Mind (What on Earth Books, 2020), illustrated by Kerry Hyndman, a global tour of remarkable islands and their wildlife, cultures and geology. Amazing Animals: 100+ Creatures That Will Boggle Your Mind (What on Earth Books, 2022), illustrated by Paul Daviz, presents notable species from land, sea and air.

In 2024 she published Ocean Creatures: A Spotter’s Guide (Weldon Owen / Insight Editions), a field-guide-style compendium featuring more than 150 species, with illustrations by Lisa Alderson and Fiona Osbaldstone. The book includes factual entries on features, habitats, diet, behaviour and conservation status.

Weiss writes in English and German and has a particular interest in ocean science, biodiversity and climate communication. Her books are used in schools and libraries to support topics in geography, natural history and environmental literacy.
