Ruchi Mhasane biography

Ruchi Mhasane is an Indian children’s book illustrator. She studied Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art and works mainly in picture books.

Her illustrated books include Raindrops, written by Vaishali Shroff, and Dance of the Wild, written by Richa Jha. Dance of the Wild was included in the International Youth Library’s White Ravens catalogue in 2018 and was an In-Book winner at the Kyoorius Design Awards in the same year.

Mhasane illustrated The Fairy Song, written by Janis Mackay and published by Floris Books. She also illustrated Dadaji’s Paintbrush, written by Rashmi Sirdeshpande and published by Andersen Press, a picture book about a child responding to grief after the death of his grandfather.

Dadaji’s Paintbrush won the Diverse Book Award for Best Picture Book in 2023 and was longlisted for the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration. Her later work includes The Beautiful Layers of Me, written by Sophia Payne and published by Walker Books.

The Beautiful Layers of Me won the Inclusive Books for Children Award for Picture Books in 2026.
