Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Rose Hall is a children’s non-fiction author for Usborne. She studied Physiology at Oxford and writes books on engineering, business, computing and the environment.
Before joining Usborne, she spent ten years in the charity sector, producing writing on renewable energy and on worker safety in Bangladesh – experience that underpins her clear explanations of real-world topics.
Her titles include Lift-the-Flap Engineering (2018), Look Inside What We Throw Away, Very First Questions & Answers: Why do I need to wash?, Psychology for Beginners and AI for Beginners (co-authored with Rachel Firth, 2025). Lift-the-Flap Engineering was published for the UK’s 2018 Year of Engineering.
