Richard Pickard is a British author of children’s fiction. His debut novel, The Peculiar Tale of the Tentacle Boy, was published by Chicken House in 2021. The book was shortlisted for the 2022 Branford Boase Award, which recognises outstanding debut novels for children. Pickard’s second novel, Son of the Sea, was published by Chicken House in 2023. Both works are aimed at middle-grade readers and have been noted for their imaginative storytelling. Pickard is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. The Peculiar Tale of the Tentacle Boy was also longlisted for the 2022 Blue Peter Book Award.
