Pamela Oldfield biography

Pamela Oldfield was a British author known for her contributions to children’s and young adult literature, as well as for her work in adult fiction. She wrote over 100 books during her career, spanning a range of genres including historical fiction, ghost stories, and contemporary tales. Oldfield’s writing often explored themes relevant to young readers, with a particular focus on historical settings and social issues.

Among her works for younger audiences, Oldfield wrote several titles for the Collins Big Cat reading scheme, which is designed to support literacy development in schools. Her books for children include My Story: Mill Girl, published by Scholastic, which presents the experiences of a young girl working in a Victorian cotton mill. She also authored My Story: Workhouse, another historical diary in the same series, offering insight into life in a nineteenth-century workhouse.

In addition to her children’s books, Oldfield wrote adult novels, particularly in the historical and romantic fiction genres. Her writing career spanned several decades, and she was recognised for her ability to bring historical periods to life for readers of all ages.
