Nikki Young biography

Nikki Young is a British children’s author and writing tutor. She founded Storymakers Writing Club in 2017 to run creative writing classes and mentoring for young writers alongside her work in schools and with individual pupils.

Her debut children’s novel, The Mystery of the Disappearing Underpants, was first published by Troubador in 2017 and reissued by Storymakers Press in 2021. Written for readers aged roughly 7–10, it features a neighbourhood sleuthing trio whose summer investigation leads to unexpected alliances.

Young is the author of the time-slip “Time School” sequence for upper middle-grade readers. The series began with Time School: We Will Remember Them (first edition 2020; Storymakers Press edition 2021) and continued with Time School: We Will Honour Them (2020; second edition 2021), Time School: We Will Stand with Them (2021) and Time School: We Will Comfort Them (2023). Across the four books, a group of friends travel into the past to uncover family histories and to see how earlier events shaped their communities.

In addition to writing, Young edits and mentors children’s authors and tutors English. Her books are available in multiple formats and are listed by standard bibliographic services and UK trade retailers.
