Nicola Slater biography

Nicola Slater is a British illustrator and author of children’s books.

She studied illustration in Buckinghamshire and began her career in children’s publishing after working as an usher in a cinema.

Slater has illustrated picture books published in the UK and the United States, including Best Friends, Spot a Lot and Leaping Lemmings.

She is the illustrator of Alice Hemming’s The Leaf Thief, published by Scholastic in 2022. The book appeared on The New York Times bestseller list.

Slater continued the Squirrel and Bird series with That’s My Flower, published in 2023, and The Sun Thief, published in 2024.
