Nick Lake is a British author and children’s book editor. He studied English at Oxford University and later completed a Master’s degree in linguistics. Lake has written several books for children and young adults, often exploring themes of identity and survival.
His debut novel, Blood Ninja, was published in 2009. The book is the first in a trilogy set in historical Japan, blending elements of adventure and fantasy. The series continued with Blood Ninja II: The Revenge of Lord Oda and Blood Ninja III: The Betrayal of the Living.
Lake’s standalone novel In Darkness was published in 2012. The story is set in Haiti and follows a boy trapped in the rubble after an earthquake. In Darkness won the Michael L. Printz Award in 2013.
