Nancy Tillman is an American author and illustrator known for her picture books for children. She began her career in children’s literature with the publication of On the Night You Were Born in 2005. Tillman both wrote and illustrated this debut title, which explores themes of love and belonging. Her books often feature gentle, reassuring messages aimed at young readers and their families.
Following her first book, Tillman continued to write and illustrate a number of titles, including The Spirit of Christmas, Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You, and The Crown on Your Head. Her works are published by Feiwel & Friends, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers. In addition to her solo projects, Tillman has also illustrated books written by other authors, such as It’s Time to Sleep, My Love by Eric Metaxas.
Tillman’s books are characterised by their distinctive artwork and lyrical text, often focusing on the emotional bonds between children and their caregivers. Her stories are widely used in early years settings and at home, supporting themes of self-worth and connection.
In 2012, Nancy Tillman published The Crown on Your Head with Feiwel & Friends.
