Matt Robertson is a British author and illustrator known for his engaging non-fiction books for children. He studied illustration at Falmouth University, where he developed his distinctive style combining informative content with playful artwork. Robertson’s work often explores themes related to science, nature, and the environment, aiming to make complex topics accessible and enjoyable for young readers.
His debut picture book, Do You Love Dinosaurs?, was published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books in 2020. The book introduces children to a variety of dinosaur species, blending factual information with humorous illustrations. Following this, Robertson authored and illustrated Flip Flap Snap! Dinosaurs and Flip Flap Snap! Jungle, both published by Nosy Crow, which use a split-page format to encourage interactive learning and creativity.
In 2021, Robertson released How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth, which presents a step-by-step guide to cleaning a prehistoric creature, combining imaginative scenarios with factual content. His book Do You Love Bugs? was published by Bloomsbury in 2022, offering young readers an introduction to the world of insects through vibrant illustrations and accessible facts.
Robertson’s books have been recognised for their educational value and appeal to primary-aged children. Do You Love Dinosaurs? was longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize in 2021, an award celebrating outstanding illustration in children’s books.
