Mariajo Ilustrajo biography

Mariajo Ilustrajo is a Spanish author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She studied illustration at the University of the Arts London, where she completed an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Her debut picture book, Flooded, was published by Frances Lincoln Children’s Books in 2022. The book has received critical recognition and was awarded the 2023 Klaus Flugge Prize, which honours promising new illustrators of picture books published in the UK. Flooded has also been shortlisted for the 2023 Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration. Ilustrajo’s work is characterised by detailed illustrations and visual storytelling. Her debut book, Flooded, has been translated into several languages. She continues to work as an illustrator and author, with her debut book marking a significant milestone in her career.
