Manon Steffan Ros is a Welsh author and playwright, known for her contributions to children’s and young adult literature in the Welsh language. She has written novels, plays, and scripts for radio and television. Her work includes the acclaimed novel The Blue Book of Nebo, originally published in Welsh as Llyfr Glas Nebo in 2018. This novel won the 2019 Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing in its English translation and was awarded the 2019 Wales Book of the Year Award.
Ros has published several other books for children and young people, including Pluen, Fi a Joe Allen, and Blasu. She has also written for adults and contributed to anthologies. Her writing often appears in both Welsh and English, and she is recognised for her role in promoting Welsh-language literature.
In addition to her novels, Ros has written scripts for S4C, the Welsh-language television channel, and has contributed to radio drama. She has received multiple Tir na n-Og Awards, which are presented annually by the Books Council of Wales for the best Welsh-language books for children and young people. In 2023, she won the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing for The Blue Book of Nebo.
