Malcolm Duffy is a British author known for his work in children’s and young adult fiction. His debut novel, Me Mam. Me Dad. Me., was published by Zephyr, an imprint of Head of Zeus, in 2018. The book explores themes of family and domestic violence and was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2019 in the Older Readers category. It also won the Sheffield Children’s Book Award in the Young Adult category in 2019.
Duffy’s second novel, Soup, was published by Zephyr in 2023. His earlier work includes Owen and the Soldier, published by Barrington Stoke in 2019, which was shortlisted for the 2020 Carnegie Medal. Duffy has a background in television and advertising, having worked as a creative director before turning to writing fiction.
His books have been recognised for their exploration of challenging social issues relevant to young people. In 2022, Duffy’s novel Read Between the Lies was published by Zephyr. His writing has received critical acclaim and several literary award nominations. Owen and the Soldier was also longlisted for the UKLA Book Awards 2021.
