Malcolm Croft is a British author and music journalist who writes about popular culture, music and subjects for younger readers. He has worked with bands including Coldplay, The Verve and The Flaming Lips and has written more than 15 books about music and popular culture.
His books for children and teenagers include Cool Astronomy: 50 Fantastic Facts for Kids of All Ages and Cool Mythology: Filled with Fantastic Facts for Kids of All Ages, illustrated by Damien Weighill. He has also written music books for younger readers, including One Direction in 3D, Harry Styles: Evolution of a Modern Superstar and BTS: The Ultimate Fan Book.
Croft is the author of K-Pop: The Ultimate Fan Book, published by Welbeck. The illustrated guide introduces K-pop groups, songs, dance, fashion and fan culture, with featured acts including BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, TWICE and SEVENTEEN, alongside references to KPop Demon Hunters. The book is part of Welbeck’s Ultimate Fan Book series.
His children’s nonfiction also includes The Travel Book from Lonely Planet Kids, a guide to every country in the world combining facts about places, wildlife, food, festivals and culture. A fully updated third edition, written by Croft with contributing writers Katie Dicker, Kate Baker and Joe Fullman and illustrated by Maggi Li and Evelline Andrya, is scheduled for publication by Lonely Planet in October 2026.
