Lucy Noguera biography

Lucy Noguera is a British children’s author and former primary school teacher and Teacher of the Deaf. She later established a small educational company and has worked with schools on book-based projects, author events and activities designed to encourage reading for pleasure.

Her first children’s book, Swop: The Satsuma-Sized Secret, illustrated by Laura Ireland, was published by Brilliant Monsters Books in July 2021. The chapter book follows Ernie, who discovers a tiny dog called Swop after moving to a new home and starting a new school. Ernie’s deaf sister Ivy uses sign language, and the book introduces readers to deaf awareness and British Sign Language. It became the first book in the Swop series.

Noguera’s first picture book, Herman Needs a Home, illustrated by Emma Latham, was published by Brilliant Monsters Books in June 2022. It follows a hermit crab searching for a new shell and incorporates factual material about hermit crabs alongside themes of marine conservation and plastic pollution.

The Swop series continued with Swop: The Daring Dinosaur Detective, illustrated by James Cottell and published in January 2025. Set during a school trip to the Natural History Museum, it follows Ernie and his friends as they investigate the disappearance of Swop and a rare dinosaur fossil.

Noguera’s picture book The Littlest Lemon, illustrated by Dannii Summerfield, was published by Brilliant Monsters Books on 16 June 2026. Set during a child’s stay with her grandmother, the story explores family, change and the cycle of growth through a tiny lemon that the children bake with and later plant.
