Lucy Cousins is a British author and illustrator, best known for her work in children’s literature. She studied graphic design at the Royal College of Art in London. Cousins is widely recognised for creating the character Maisy Mouse, who first appeared in the book Maisy Goes Swimming published by Walker Books in 1990. The Maisy series features bold, colourful illustrations and simple stories aimed at young children.
In addition to the Maisy books, Cousins has written and illustrated a range of other picture books, including Jazzy in the Jungle, Hooray for Fish!, and Yummy: My Favourite Nursery Stories. Her distinctive artistic style is characterised by bright colours and strong outlines, making her work easily recognisable to children and adults alike.
Lucy Cousins’s books have been published by Walker Books in the UK. Her work has received recognition in the field of children’s publishing, including the 2002 Gold Smarties Book Prize for Jazzy in the Jungle.
