Lauren Muñoz is a writer, lawyer and former teacher who writes young adult murder mysteries. She received her J.D. from Northwestern University in Chicago.
Her debut novel, Suddenly A Murder, was published in the UK by Hot Key Books on 5 September 2023. The story follows Izzy Morales and six other high-school graduates during a 1920s-themed trip to Ashwood Manor, where Kassidy’s boyfriend is found dead and every guest becomes a suspect.
Suddenly A Murder was also published in the United States by G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers. The paperback edition was published on 27 August 2024, with an age range of 12 and up.
Muñoz’s second YA novel, Very Dangerous Things, was published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers on 29 July 2025. It follows Dulce Castillo during an annual school murder mystery game at J. Everett High, after the student playing the victim is found poisoned in the school greenhouse.
Suddenly A Murder was listed as a Goodreads Choice Award nominee, a Target Book Club pick and an Amazon Editor’s Pick.
