Lauren James is the pen name under which the British writer Wren James published several young adult novels, including The Next Together (2015), The Last Beginning (2016), The Loneliest Girl in the Universe (2017), and The Quiet at the End of the World (2019). Wren James later continued publishing work under their own name.
James has been Carnegie-longlisted and has also been described by their publisher as twice Carnegie-nominated. They have served as an RLF Royal Fellow at Aston University and as a story consultant on Netflix’s Heartstopper (Seasons 2 and 3).
The Quiet at the End of the World was a finalist in the National Cyber Awards (Book of the Year), an Amazon Teachers’ Pick, and was shortlisted for the STEAM Children’s Book Prize and the YA Book Prize.
James’s later YA novels include Green Rising (published by Walker Books on September 2, 2021) and Last Seen Online (published by Walker Books on August 1, 2024).
