Laila Ekboir biography

Laila Ekboir is an Argentine illustrator and author-illustrator working in children’s books. She completed a BA in English literature, then trained in children’s book illustration through a workshop in Argentina.

Ekboir worked as a freelance illustrator in Buenos Aires before moving to the UK in 2021 to complete an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art.

She is credited as the illustrator of Questions I Am Asked About the Holocaust: Young Reader’s Edition by Hédi Fried, in translation by Alice E. Olsson, published by Scribble in 2023.

Ekboir wrote and illustrated her debut picture book We Are Like Birds, published in January 2025.
