Khaled Hosseini biography

Khaled Hosseini is an Afghan-American author best known for his novels for both adult and young adult readers. His debut novel, The Kite Runner, was published by Riverhead Books in 2003. The book became an international bestseller and has been published in over seventy countries. It was followed by A Thousand Splendid Suns in 2007 and And the Mountains Echoed in 2013, both published by Bloomsbury in the UK. His works have been translated into multiple languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide.

Hosseini’s novels often explore themes of family, displacement, and the experiences of Afghans. The Kite Runner was adapted into a feature film in 2007 and a stage play. A Thousand Splendid Suns has also been adapted for the stage. In addition to his novels, Hosseini has written a short illustrated book, Sea Prayer, published in 2018, inspired by the Syrian refugee crisis.

Hosseini has received several literary honours, including the South African Boeke Prize and the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award. He serves as a Goodwill Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Sea Prayer was published by Bloomsbury in 2018.
