Kate Grenville is an Australian fiction writer. Her novels include Lilian’s Story, Dark Places, The Idea of Perfection and Albion’s Story. The Secret River was published in 2005. The novel follows William Thornhill, who is transported from London to New South Wales and later claims land by the Hawkesbury River.
