Kamala Harris is an American politician and author. She has written several books, including works for children and young adults. Her picture book, Superheroes Are Everywhere, was published by Philomel Books in 2019. The book introduces young readers to the idea that heroes can be found in everyday life and draws on Harris’s own childhood experiences. In 2020, she published Kamala and Maya’s Big Idea, a children’s book based on a true story from her and her sister’s childhood, written by Meena Harris and published by Balzer + Bray.
Harris has also authored The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, which was adapted for young readers and published by Penguin Young Readers in 2019. This edition presents her memoir in a format suitable for younger audiences, focusing on her upbringing, values, and public service.
Kamala Harris became the Vice President of the United States in January 2021. Her children’s books have appeared on bestseller lists, including The New York Times Best Seller list for picture books.
