Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Jonathan Meres is a British author known for his work in children’s literature. He began his writing career after working in various fields, including as an ice cream van driver and a stand-up comedian. Meres is best recognised for his series The World of Norm, which follows the humorous misadventures of a boy named Norm. The first book in the series, May Contain Nuts, was published by Orchard Books in 2011.
In addition to The World of Norm series, Meres has written other children’s books, including Yo! Diary! and Diary of a Trainee Rock God. His writing is characterised by its comedic style and relatable characters, appealing to a wide range of young readers.
Jonathan Meres has also performed at literary festivals and school events, engaging with children and promoting reading for pleasure. His book The World of Norm: May Contain Nuts won the Scottish Children’s Book Award in 2012.
