Joan Lennon biography

Joan Lennon is a children’s and young adult author whose work includes historical fiction, fantasy and adventure. She was born in Canada and later moved to the United Kingdom. She has written for early readers, younger readers and teenagers, with books that use history, time travel and imaginative settings.

Her Slightly Jones Mystery series follows a young Victorian detective. The series includes The Case of the London Dragonfish, The Case of the Glasgow Ghoul, The Case of the Cambridge Mummy and The Case of the Hidden City.

Her Wickit Chronicles series is a historical adventure series for younger readers. Titles in the series include Ice Road, Flood and Fang, Tower of London and Magpie’s Nest.

Silver Skin is a young adult time-slip novel by Joan Lennon set around Skara Brae in Orkney at the end of the Stone Age. The story follows Rab, a boy from the future whose time-travel study trip goes wrong, and it was published on 16 June 2015.

Joan Lennon co-wrote Talking History: 150 years of world-changing speeches with Joan Dritsas Haig, with illustrations by André Ducci. The book profiles 16 speakers and speeches for upper Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 readers, and it was featured as a December 2024 non-fiction book of the month.
