Jenny Han biography

Jenny Han is an American author known for her work in young adult and children’s fiction. She studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and later earned a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the New School. Han’s debut novel, Shug, was published in 2006 and is aimed at younger readers.

She is widely recognised for her young adult trilogies. The Summer I Turned Pretty series, which includes The Summer I Turned Pretty (2009), It’s Not Summer Without You (2010), and We’ll Always Have Summer (2011), follows the story of a teenage girl navigating family and relationships during her summers at a beach house. Another notable series by Han is the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, comprising To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2014), P.S. I Still Love You (2015), and Always and Forever, Lara Jean (2017). These novels centre on Lara Jean Covey, a high school student whose private letters to her crushes are unexpectedly sent out.

Jenny Han has also co-authored the Burn for Burn trilogy with Siobhan Vivian, which includes Burn for Burn (2012), Fire with Fire (2013), and Ashes to Ashes (2014). Her books have been published by Simon & Schuster and its imprints.

In 2015, Jenny Han won the Young Adult Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature for To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.
