Jane Marlow is a UK writer and journalist whose work focuses on explaining how news is made and helping young readers navigate information critically. She is a Senior Publicist at Independent Television News (ITN) and has worked across journalism, communications and content production.
Marlow is the author of Inside Story: How the News Works (Templar Publishing, 1 February 2024), an illustrated non-fiction guide for children aged roughly 8–12. Created in collaboration with ITN Productions and featuring contributions from ITV News presenter Charlene White, the book introduces where stories come from, how reporters verify facts, the roles in a newsroom and how to spot misinformation. It is illustrated by Terri Po and published in a 64-page large-format edition designed for classroom use as well as independent reading.
In interviews about the project, Marlow highlights drawing on the expertise of ITN journalists, producers and technical teams to present real-world examples and practical activities. Education and library listings describe the title as a clear, accessible overview of modern news gathering and media literacy.
Alongside authorship, Marlow continues to work at ITN on editorial communications and outreach, bringing industry experience to resources that support teachers, parents and young people in understanding the news.
