Jake R. Wilson is a British children’s author and professional archaeologist. He has led excavations across south-east England and visits schools and bookshops to promote archaeology and creative writing. Alongside fieldwork he writes adventure fiction for middle-grade readers, drawing on historical themes and artefacts.
Wilson’s debut, Cursed Tales: The Pharaoh of Asco Express, was first published by New Frontier Publishing in July 2022, with a U.S. school-library edition issued by Lerner Publishing later that year. The story follows three friends who must break an ancient curse; the original edition features illustrations by Sian James.
In June 2024 he launched a new series with Sar Wylda and the Legendary Goldbreaker (New Frontier Publishing), illustrated by Kimberley Laura Walker. Aimed at readers aged 9+, the novel introduces a high-stakes racing world and a determined young protagonist, opening a sequence planned around courage, engineering and problem-solving.
Publisher and author materials describe Wilson as balancing writing with archaeological project management. His outreach includes talks and workshops that bring excavation methods and the material past into the classroom.
Selected works: Cursed Tales: The Pharaoh of Asco Express (New Frontier Publishing, 2022; U.S. edition Lerner, 2022); Sar Wylda and the Legendary Goldbreaker (New Frontier Publishing, 2024).
