Jack Pepper is a British composer, broadcaster and writer. He became the UK’s youngest national radio presenter at nineteen when he joined Scala Radio in 2019, and he now presents classical programmes for Magic Classical. As a composer, his early commissions included music for the Royal Opera House, Classic FM’s 25th Birthday, the Royal Philharmonic Society, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s 125th anniversary, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Band of HM Royal Marines and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. His fanfare was used to call audiences to their seats throughout the Royal Opera House 2016–17 season under Sir Antonio Pappano. He was named to the Radio Academy’s ReelWorld “30 Under 30” list in 2019.
Pepper’s debut children’s non-fiction book, Raising the Roof: A Dazzling History of Classical Music and its Colourful Characters, illustrated by Michele Bruttomesso, introduces key composers and ideas to young readers. It was first published in hardback by Templar Books on 6 June 2024 (80 pp.; ISBN 9781787419285), with a paperback edition issued on 11 September 2025 by Bonnier Books/Templar (80 pp.; ISBN 9781835873298).
Alongside writing and composing, Pepper has worked on youth and education initiatives. As a Music for Youth ambassador he helped lead the “Thank Your Music Teacher” campaign and has developed projects highlighting music education and opportunities for young performers.
