Harry Woodgate is a British author and illustrator known for their work in children’s literature. They studied at the University of Hertfordshire, where they completed a degree in Illustration. Woodgate’s creative practice spans picture books, editorial illustration, and book covers, with a focus on themes such as inclusivity, LGBTQ+ representation, and celebrating diversity.
Woodgate’s debut picture book as both author and illustrator is Grandad’s Camper, published by Andersen Press in 2021. The book explores intergenerational relationships and LGBTQ+ history, and has been recognised for its contribution to children’s literature. Woodgate has also illustrated books for other authors, including Shine Like the Stars by Anna Wilson and The Very Merry Murder Club edited by Serena Patel and Robin Stevens.
In 2022, Grandad’s Camper was awarded the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize for Illustrated Book. Woodgate’s work continues to be published by Andersen Press and other major publishers, with a focus on stories that reflect a wide range of experiences and identities.
