H.F Askwith biography

H. F. Askwith writes YA gothic fantasy thrillers. Her books are A Dark Inheritance, A Cruel Twist of Fate and Half a Dark Heart. She is a Northern Writers’ Award winner and has an MA in Creative Writing.

A Dark Inheritance was published by Penguin on 19 January 2023. The novel follows Felix Ashe, who believes he will die on his eighteenth birthday after the deaths of his three older brothers, and it takes him from Jazz-Age New York to the Yorkshire moors as he investigates a family curse and a secret society.

A Cruel Twist of Fate was published by Penguin on 18 January 2024. The story follows seventeen-year-old Helena, who becomes a governess at Archfall Manor, a crumbling house on a North Sea causeway, where a storm cuts off the mainland route and a murder is followed by another death.

Half a Dark Heart was published by Penguin on 29 January 2026. The novel follows Alice, who can see violent shadow-monsters called the Horrors, as she tries to find her missing sister Lucille after a death in Whitby and the arrival of Austin, an actor who says a demon has stolen his voice.
