Goldy Moldavsky is an American author of young adult and children’s fiction. Born in Lima, Peru, she grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She studied journalism at college, where she interviewed celebrities for her student newspaper. She is represented by literary agent Jenny Bent of The Bent Agency.
Her debut novel, Kill the Boy Band, was published by Scholastic’s Point imprint in February 2016 and became a New York Times bestseller. The darkly comic story follows four teenage fans whose obsession with a British boy band takes a dangerous turn. Her second novel, No Good Deed (2017), is set at a summer camp for teenage activists.
Moldavsky’s subsequent young adult novels include The Mary Shelley Club (2021), published by Henry Holt and Co., in which a teenage girl joins a secret society whose members compete to frighten unsuspecting victims through elaborate pranks. The novel was selected as one of Publishers Weekly’s best books of the year. Lord of the Fly Fest (2022) follows social media influencers stranded on an island, while Just Say Yes (2024) tells the story of a seventeen-year-old girl who discovers she is undocumented and considers marriage as a way to remain in the United States. Just Say Yes was named an NPR Best Book of 2024 and included in YALSA’s Best Fiction for Young Adults selections for 2025.
Her 2025 novel Of Earthly Delights, published by Henry Holt and Co., is a gothic romance involving a mysterious garden and a wealthy family’s secrets.
Moldavsky made her middle-grade fiction debut with Bubblegum Shoes: The Case of the Contraband Closet, published by Random House Books for Young Readers in July 2025. Inspired by black-and-white film noir, the mystery introduces schoolgirl detective Maya Mendoza, who investigates the disappearance of confiscated classroom possessions. The second book in the series, Bubblegum Shoes: The Big Sleepover, was published on 14 July 2026.
