Fran Long is an editor of the children’s poetry anthology The Bee Is Not Afraid Of Me: A Book of Insect Poems. The book was edited by Fran Long and Dr Isabel Galleymore, with illustrations by Emma Dai’an Wright. Its poems focus on insects, including bees, dung beetles, ants, beetles, butterflies, moths and ladybirds, and introduce children to insects as pollinators, recyclers and food sources for other animals.
The Bee Is Not Afraid Of Me: A Book of Insect Poems has 100 pages in its Kindle edition and was published on 26 April 2021. The anthology contains more than 40 poems and has been recommended for Key Stage 2 pupils, including Year 3 children aged 7–8, as a poetry resource for lower Key Stage 2 and for cross-curricular work on minibeasts.
