David Farr is a British playwright, screenwriter, theatre director and author.
He studied English at the University of Cambridge, where he co-founded the theatre company Cambridge Talking Tongues.
Farr has held leadership roles in theatre: he was Artistic Director of Bristol Old Vic, and later of the Lyric Hammersmith, before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company as Associate Director.
His television and film writing credits include the BBC adaptation of The Night Manager, the film Hanna, episodes of Spooks, The Midwich Cuckoos, and Troy: Fall of a City.
In 2021, Farr published his debut children’s novel, The Book of Stolen Dreams, under Usborne Books.
He has adapted classic works for stage, including versions of Great Expectations, William Shakespeare’s The Nativity and The Heart of Robin Hood.
