Darren Simpson is a British author known for writing fiction for children and young adults. His work often explores themes of imagination, resilience, and the natural world. Simpson’s debut novel, Scavengers, was published by Usborne in 2019. The story follows a boy named Landfill who lives on the edge of society, raised by a man called Babagoo, and explores issues of isolation and discovery.

Simpson’s second novel, The Memory Thieves, was published by Usborne in 2021. This book centres on a group of children at a mysterious facility where memories are erased, prompting questions about identity and the importance of the past.

His third novel, Furthermoor, was published by Usborne in 2022. The story features a boy named Bren who escapes into a fantastical world called Furthermoor, blending elements of reality and fantasy as he copes with loss and bullying.

Darren Simpson’s Scavengers was longlisted for the 2020 CILIP Carnegie Medal.
