Daniel Long is a UK illustrator and author who specialises in children’s non-fiction titles. He is based in Norfolk and graduated from Norwich University of the Arts.
His illustrations are created digitally, often using textured shading to add depth. Daniel Long’s first book with the Wren & Rook imprint is Lost Species.
Long illustrates animal and nature titles for major publishers. For example, An Anthology of Aquatic Life by DK showcases over 90 of his illustrations of marine creatures.
He illustrated the picture book Heartbeat, in which each double-page explores the heartbeats of diverse animals. In the description of Heartbeat, his influences are said to include mid-century design, architecture and fashion.
Long has 59 books listed under his name on Goodreads, spanning children’s, science and general non-fiction genres.
