Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Cynthia Murphy is a British author known for writing young adult thrillers. Her debut novel, Last One to Die, was published by Scholastic in January 2021. The book is a contemporary thriller set in London and explores themes of friendship and danger. Murphy’s second novel, Win Lose Kill Die, was released by Scholastic in January 2022. This title is a murder mystery set in a competitive academic environment.
Murphy’s third book, The Midnight Game, was published by Scholastic in January 2023. The novel draws on urban legends and explores the consequences of a supernatural game. In addition to her novels, Murphy has contributed to anthologies, including Hauntings: Short Tales of the Supernatural, published by Scholastic in 2022.
Her books have been recognised for their appeal to young adult readers and have been featured in various reading lists. Last One to Die was shortlisted for the 2022 Lancashire Book of the Year Award. Murphy is represented by the Kate Nash Literary Agency.
Her most recent novel, The Midnight Game, was published in 2023.
