Claudia Martin biography

Claudia Martin is an author of nonfiction for children and young adults whose books cover science, geography, history, technology, animals, and the natural world. She has a professional background in book publishing and has written numerous books and online resources for younger readers.

Her science titles include the Geology Rocks! series, published by Wayland, an imprint of Hachette Children’s Group. Books in the series examine subjects including the rock cycle, fossils, weathering and erosion, Earth’s layers, soil, earthquakes, and volcanoes. Martin has also written reference books about the natural world, including Children’s Encyclopedia of Rocks and Fossils, Rock Explorer: Gems, and A to Z of Rocks, Minerals, and Gems. The latter introduces rocks, minerals, and gemstones alphabetically, alongside explanations of how rocks and minerals form and how they are used. Silver Dolphin Books published a US edition in September 2024.

Martin’s other children’s nonfiction ranges across astronomy, wildlife, geography, money, and technology. Her books include The Ultimate Book of Space, Children’s Encyclopedia of Sharks, Children’s Encyclopedia of Dogs, and Journey Around the United Kingdom. Arcturus published Martin’s 512-page Ultimate Animal Encyclopedia: The Definitive Visual Guide in the United States in August 2026. The reference book surveys mammals, reptiles, birds, fish, amphibians, and invertebrates using photographs, fact boxes, and explanatory text.
