Clare Pollard is a British writer whose work spans poetry, plays, and novels for adults and younger readers. She studied English at Cambridge University. Pollard’s poetry collections include The Heavy-Petting Zoo, published by Bloodaxe Books in 1998, and subsequent titles such as Bedtime and Look, Clare! Look!. Her poetry has been recognised with awards including the Eric Gregory Award from the Society of Authors.
Pollard has also written for the stage, with her play The Weather produced at the Royal Court Theatre. In addition to her poetry and plays, she has translated works such as Ovid’s Heroines for Bloodaxe Books.
For younger readers, Pollard is the author of the children’s novel The Untameables, published by Puffin in 2023.
