Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Chris Wormell is a British author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He is recognised for his distinctive illustrations, often created using traditional printmaking techniques such as wood engraving and linocut. Wormell has written and illustrated several picture books, as well as providing illustrations for works by other authors.
Among his notable works are George and the Dragon, Two Frogs, and Teeth, Tails, and Tentacles. His books frequently feature animals and imaginative storytelling, appealing to a wide range of young readers. In addition to his own stories, Wormell has illustrated books for other writers, contributing his unique visual style to a variety of projects.
Chris Wormell’s illustrations have been recognised with awards, including the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Bronze Award for Two Frogs in 2003. His book George and the Dragon was published by Jonathan Cape in 2002.
