Bruna De Luca writes children’s and young adult fiction. She studied at the University of Edinburgh and completed a dissertation on Italian fairy tales. She also spent time in Italy teaching students to speak English. Her dual Scottish and Italian background informs her writing, and Livia in Rome is a young adult novel about a sixteen-year-old Scottish-Italian girl spending the summer in her grandmother’s bar in Rome. The paperback edition of Livia in Rome was published by Chicken House Ltd on 3 July 2025.
De Luca also wrote the picture book I’m Not Cute, I’m Dangerous, illustrated by Benedetta Capriotti. The story follows Fifi, a fluffy crocodile who wants to be seen as dangerous like her sisters. Another edition of her Rome-set teen novel is due in the United States as My Roman Summer, to be published by Scholastic, Inc. on 2 June 2026.
