Brogen Murphy biography

Brogen Murphy is a UK middle-grade author whose debut novel Wildlands was published in March 2025 by Penguin Random House.

They graduated with a degree in Zoology from the University of Cambridge. Murphy has worked in roles related to ecology field work, carbon offsetting, climate activism, and promoting clean technologies over the course of fifteen years.

Wildlands is a survival story aimed at readers aged 10 and older. The novel is set in the year 2050 in Britain, where humans are forbidden in a “Wildlands” area inhabited by wolves, lynx and bison; it follows thirteen-year-old Astrid and her younger sister Indie as they navigate danger and wonder with only a rucksack and a phone without signal.

Rights to Wildlands were acquired by Puffin in a two-book deal. The book was shortlisted for the 2025 Wainwright Children’s Prize for Fiction.
